Scott Bergquist, Founder & CEO
Scott founded The Wound Vac Company in 2017, driven by his commitment to making high-quality negative pressure wound therapy (NPWT) accessible and affordable for medical and veterinary professionals. With over 30 years of experience in coaching, educating, and leading a business Scott has dedicated the last 15 years to advancing negative pressure wound therapy care practices and training.
Recognizing a need for specialized wound care resources, Scott established The Wound Vac Company to bridge gaps in access to NPWT equipment and training. His expertise in advanced wound care and NPWT has supported the company’s growth, now serving surgeons, veterinary surgeons, skilled nursing facilities, hospice providers, medical supply vendors, and healthcare professionals nationwide. Through The Wound Vac Company, Scott continues to champion innovation and quality in wound care, ensuring providers have access to industry-leading products and training.
Eliott McAlarney – Business Development Manager
As Business Development Manager, Eliott McAlarney plays a key role in driving growth, building strategic partnerships, and expanding The Wound Vac Company’s presence in both medical and veterinary markets. With a strong background in sales, management, and customer service, Eliott combines hands-on experience with a clear vision for long-term success.
Passionate about innovation in healthcare, he stays actively engaged with the latest trends in wound care to better support clients and advance our mission of improving patient outcomes through accessible, high-quality NPWT solutions.
Outside of work, Eliott is an avid outdoorsman who enjoys hiking, cycling, camping, and snowboarding—always embracing new challenges, whether on the trail or in the field.
Dr. James R. Benjamin, MD, ASPS – Medical Director
Dr. James “Reggie” Benjamin, a board-certified plastic surgeon with over 50 years of experience, serves as Medical Director of The Wound Vac Company. As he scales back his private practice in Bowie, MD, Dr. Benjamin brings a wealth of surgical expertise and a lifelong dedication to innovation in wound care—particularly in the use of Negative Pressure Wound Therapy (NPWT).
A graduate of Penn State University and Howard University College of Medicine, Dr. Benjamin completed extensive training at leading institutions, including Walter Reed and Letterman Army Medical Centers. He has held numerous leadership roles in both military and civilian hospitals, and served as an Associate Professor of Surgery at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences.
Throughout his career, Dr. Benjamin has been a prolific educator, author, and speaker, contributing to advancements in plastic surgery and wound management. He is a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons and other prestigious medical associations.
In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Benjamin co-founded the Autism FYI Organization, a nonprofit supporting individuals on the autism spectrum, inspired by his own family experience.
At The Wound Vac Company, Dr. Benjamin plays a key role in guiding clinical strategy, provider education, and the development of best practices in NPWT. We are honored to have him leading our medical mission.
