Is MicroDoc a single-use wound vac?
Yes. MicroDoc is a compact single-use negative pressure wound therapy system. Use and disposal should follow the current owner's manual and facility procedures.
Is MicroDoc a portable wound vac for closed surgical incisions?
MicroDoc is portable and canisterless, and its available configurations include selected closed-incision applications. The treating clinician must determine whether MicroDoc is appropriate for the particular incision, wound and postoperative plan.
Does MicroDoc use a canister?
No. Fluid is managed within the ComforTech dressing, so MicroDoc does not use a separate collection canister. It is intended for applications appropriate to that fluid-handling design.
What pressure settings are available?
The control unit offers −50, −80 and −125 mmHg. The treating clinician selects the prescribed setting.
What dressing sizes are available through TWVC?
TWVC currently lists complete systems 4001, 4002, 4003, 4004, 4006 and 4007. Pensar's named size is the outer perimeter of the complete dressing; the microfiber pad is smaller. How long does the MicroDoc device run?
Pensar states that MicroDoc can deliver up to 7–14 days of therapy per device, depending on pressure setting, wound characteristics and the quality of the dressing seal. Actual therapy duration and dressing changes follow the treating clinician's order and the current instructions for use.
What should a patient do if the seal is lost?
Follow the patient guide and the treating clinician's instructions. If the seal cannot be restored, the unit alarms or the dressing requires attention, contact the treating clinician rather than improvising the therapy.
