Scott Bergquist founded The Wound Vac Company in 2017, driven by his commitment to making high-quality negative pressure wound therapy (NPWT) accessible and affordable for medical and veterinary professionals.
With over 30 years of experience in coaching, educating, and leading within the medical industry, Scott has dedicated the last 15 years to advancing wound care practices and training.
Recognizing a need for specialized wound care resources, Scott established The Wound Vac Company to bridge gaps in access to NPWT equipment and training. His expertise in advanced wound care and NPWT has supported the company’s growth, now serving surgeons, veterinary surgeons, skilled nursing facilities, hospice providers, medical supply vendors, and healthcare professionals nationwide.
Through The Wound Vac Company, Scott continues to champion innovation and quality in wound care, ensuring providers have access to industry-leading products and training.

Dr. James Reginald "Reggie" Benjamin, MD, a distinguished board-certified plastic surgeon, has joined The Wound Vac Company as Medical Director. With over 50 years of experience in plastic and reconstructive surgery, Dr. Benjamin is scaling back his solo practice in Bowie, MD, to dedicate more time to family while channeling his extensive expertise into advancing wound care innovations as an advisor, educator, and visionary in Negative Pressure Wound Therapy (NPWT).
Professional Background
Dr. Benjamin's illustrious career began with a Bachelor of Science from Penn State University in 1967, followed by a Doctor of Medicine from Howard University College of Medicine in 1971. His specialized training includes residencies and fellowships at prestigious institutions such as Walter Reed Army Medical Center (1976-1978), Letterman Army Medical Center (1971-1976), Temple University under Lester Cramer, MD (1977), San Francisco General Hospital (1975), and St. Francis Hospital in San Francisco, CA (1974).
He has held numerous leadership roles, including:

A prolific presenter and author, Dr. Benjamin has shared his knowledge at key events, including moderating the Cosmetic Surgery Forum at the National Medical Association (NMA) Convention in 1999, presenting “Development of a Plastic Surgery Practice” in 2001, and “Abdominoplasty-New Trends” in 2003. He also authored the article “Plastic Surgery of the Breast in Black Females” in the journal Cosmetic Plastic Surgery in Nonwhite Patients (pages 169-202).
In his new role at The Wound Vac Company, Dr. Benjamin will leverage his deep insights into wound management, particularly NPWT, to guide our initiatives. As a seasoned practitioner, he has highlighted the importance of NPWT in addressing complications from procedures like those in medical tourism, emphasizing reliable follow-up care and innovative solutions for optimal patient outcomes.
Personal Life and Philanthropy
Beyond medicine, Dr. Benjamin is the Co-Founder and CEO of the 501(c)(3) nonprofit Autism FYI Organization Corporation, which he established with his wife, Joyce Smith Benjamin, RN, PA-C, in 2014. The organization focuses on promoting safety, employment opportunities, and independence for individuals on the autism spectrum—a cause close to his heart as a proud father of three sons, two of whom are on the spectrum.
